Murmurtale Do you need an account?
Not right away. You can dictate up to 5,000 words on the on-device engine with no account at all, one time. After that, a free account (Apple, Google, or email — no payment info) gets you 5,000 on-device words every month, at no cost. Pro is the same account, upgraded to a paid subscription that makes on-device dictation unlimited and adds the cloud engine with 60,000 cloud words a month.
The free Pro trial
Every new account starts a free Pro trial: cloud transcription and fiction formatting for 14 days or 20,000 cloud words, whichever comes first. There is no credit card, so nothing is ever charged automatically. Two days before it ends, we email you a reminder. When it ends, Murmurtale switches back to on-device dictation on its own, and you can upgrade from Preferences → Account or your account page whenever you like. Each account gets one trial.
Managing Pro
Pro is offered as a monthly ($14.99) or yearly ($119) subscription. You manage payment and renewal through the billing portal linked from the account section. Switching between monthly and yearly, updating a card, and viewing invoices all happen there.

Cancelling
- Open Preferences → Account and choose Manage subscription.
- In the billing portal, cancel your plan. You keep Pro through the end of the period you already paid for.
- After that, Murmurtale simply returns your account to the free tier — 5,000 on-device words a month. Nothing is deleted.
