Engine, plans and account

Account and subscription

During the private beta, an approved account unlocks the download. That same account carries your free usage today and Pro access as it becomes available.

Do you need an account?

Yes during the private beta. Apply for founding access first; approved writers receive an invite code, create an account with Apple, Google, or email, and then see the Mac download on the signed-in account page. A free account gets you 10,000 local words every month at no cost. Pro is the same account, upgraded to a paid subscription that removes the local cap and adds the cloud engine.

The account surface shows your plan and a link to manage billing.

Managing Pro

Pro is offered as a monthly or yearly subscription. When Pro is live, you manage payment and renewal through the billing portal linked from the account section. Switching between monthly and yearly, updating a card, and viewing invoices all happen there.

Beta statusInvite-gated account creation and sign-in are live. Pro billing is being introduced separately as the beta widens.

Cancelling

  1. Open Preferences → Account and choose Manage subscription.
  2. In the billing portal, cancel your plan. You keep Pro through the end of the period you already paid for.
  3. After that, Murmurtale simply returns your account to the free tier — 10,000 local words a month. Nothing is deleted.

Cancel anytimeCancelling never touches your work. Your dictations, dictionaries, and settings stay on your Mac, and the on-device engine keeps working. Your words remain yours.
